The Community Lab was a laboratory which was focused on understanding how community works and how community creates spaces and spaces create communities.

Or practices were solely horizontal and by being horizontal we decided upon the discourse which we want to follow and through discussions we decided upon our common vision, principles and activities which we wanted to design.

The first part of the Lab was getting to know the local community and actors of the city of Frankfurt (Oder), by understanding the local context. We also talked about theory of the common spaces and also shared case studies which would be helpful upon to decide which actions and activities we wanted to undergo.

On the second part of the Lab, we decided upon the activities and events which we wanted to organize by always keeping in mind that “the activities which we are going to manifest will stay and we will go”. Therefore, we always took consideration on the history, the context and the complexity of the city of Frankfurt (Oder).

Through the horizontal assembly, came to fruit activities such as The soap workshop, Balkan Music Night and the Poetry night. Through these activities we offered not only the city but also other participants of the summer school spaces where they could relax, get to know each other and also bond by taking part in those events.
