Sans Soleil is an influential documentary film essay by Chris Marker. Marker’s broad reaching practice often used documentary elements combined with personal insights to create innovative and artistic forms.

La Jetée is another of Marker’s works demonstrates an experimental use of voice over and still image. The film has been influential in film history and was remade in 1995 by Terry Gilliam into the mainstream film 12 Monkeys.
